Hello! Welcome everyone visiting from Katie’s tour over at Peonies on Pleasant!
A huge thank you to Mansa from This Is Simplicite for putting together this amazing Colors of Fall home tour.
Fall is in the air here in Ohio and I could not be happier! This is by far my favorite time of year. Give me all the cozy sweaters, pumpkin lattes and falling leaves. Who is with me? I am always thrilled to get out all of my fall decorating bins and see what I have to work with. If you’ve been around a little while you know my love of neutrals and simplicity. I did not deviate from that one bit this year.
Where to Start?
I always start my fall decorating in my dining room for 2 reasons. First, it is one of the first places you see when you enter our house. Second, it is where I spend 90% of my time working, and doing my morning quite time. If you came to my home at any given time this is more than likely where you will find me:
This is one reason I always keep my table decor very simple. I want it to be festive, yet functional for our family. And let’s be honest, a majority of the time it’s often piled up with mail, laundry and soccer gear! By using this long basket from Hobby Lobby I can easily move it on and off the table as well. I couldn’t resist the beautiful neutral tone stems, also from Hobby Lobby. Over the years I have gathered quite the collection of faux pumpkins. I typically pick them up after season or at the Target Dollar Spot when I see them. Then each year I grab some spray paint and give them a fresh coat to match my decor.
My Favorite Place to Decorate
My coffee bar! This is the view from “my spot” :
I was so happy to collaborate with my friend Jennie from The Little Bird this year. When I saw her fall collection I knew I wanted one of her signs to be the star of my coffee bar this year.
The only new thing on the coffee bar is the sign, everything else I had. I love to use clear canisters on my open shelves – they are functional and classic. Here again I have my freshly spray painted faux pumpkins. Pretty, simple and classic.
If you head to Jennie’s shop be sure to use code: ANDREA10 for 10% off your order! The best part about this sign is it’s double sided! Come Christmas time the only thing I have to do is flip it over!
A Few Fall Touches
This space has not changed in well over a year, and it is still one of my favorite little vignettes. For my fall decorating here I simply added a string of hops and a few pumpkins. It is still simple and classic with a little touch of fall. I love these little cubbies from Ikea. We originally bought this to put in our storage room for shoes and all the things, but my husband put it together here in the dining room and it hasn’t moved since. I kept thinking it was too modern to fit into this space, but I like to make up my own rules! Never forget this is your house, that you are making your home – You do You!
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop over and see my Fall Dining Room! Decorating doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Little touches here and there can really go a long way! Start with one small spot, sometimes that’s all it takes to make a whole room feel festive.
I’d love to know what your favorite place to decorate is in your home. Please let me know below!
I’m excited to send you over to Jenny’s blog, Palm and Prep , where she has even more fall inspiration for you.
